Frequently asked questions

Galvanising helps protect the steel wire rope against corrosion and weathering. This supports durable use in outdoor or damp environments when the sling is correctly selected and maintained.

They are used for heavy loads in construction, industry and mechanical engineering wherever dependable capacity, flexibility and durability are required.

Do not drag a sling over unprotected sharp edges. Use the correct capacity and attachment method, and inspect the rope, end connections and fittings regularly for damage or corrosion.

Consider the required capacity, rope diameter, attachment method, load geometry, edge conditions and environment. SHT can advise on standard and special configurations.

Store slings clean and dry and inspect them regularly for kinks, broken wires, damaged fittings or corrosion. Remove damaged slings from service.
