Von den Anfängen bis heute: SHT Suhler Hebezeugtechnik im Wandel der Zeit

Foundation in 1920
1920–1932 – Foundation & Growth

The Kerner brothers founded the company, built production halls and developed the first conveyor technology. By 1932, the company had grown to over 100 employees.

Crisis and exports
1930s – Crisis & Survival through Exports

The Great Depression hit the company hard. Orders from the Soviet Union ensured survival, followed later by military contracts.

Post-war period
1945–1948 – Expropriation & New Beginning

After the end of the war, the plant was expropriated and rebuilt under Soviet administration as a state-owned enterprise.

GDR era
1950s–1980s – GDR Era & Specialization

The plant developed into the leading manufacturer of small hoists in the GDR. Production and facilities were continuously expanded.

Time of change after 1990
1990 – Treuhand & Privatization

After German reunification, the Treuhand agency took over. In 1993, the plant was privatized. Despite staff reductions, production remained stable.

2003–2008 – Insolvency & Restart

In 2004, insolvency followed. Under new management, production continued. In 2008, the company was taken over by DiA GmbH.

2004 – Foundation of SHT

With the foundation of SHT Suhler Hebezeugtechnik GmbH and Dirk Rabestein as Managing Director, the sales of professional hoists and load handling equipment began.

Expansion of SHT in 2008
2008 – Expansion of the Portfolio

The range of services at SHT was expanded to include conveyor technology and steel construction.

10th anniversary of SHT in 2014
2014 – 10th Anniversary

In 2014, SHT Suhler Hebezeugtechnik GmbH celebrated its 10th anniversary. A decade of growth, technical innovation and dedicated customer service was proudly recognized.

Change of managing director in 2019
2019 – New Managing Director

Dipl.-Ing. Dipl.-Kfm. Ralf Ressel took over the management from Dirk Rabestein, who retired.

MWB acquisition in 2022
2022 – Acquisition of MWB Product Lines

With the acquisition of MWB, SHT expanded its portfolio to include products for port and intralogistics, such as the Trolleystore, KLT transfer unit and lashing cages.

Continuation of Jucho Cranes in 2022
2022 – Jucho Cranes Continue

As a tribute to the traditional company C.H. Jucho, SHT has carried the name “SHT Jucho Cranes” since 2022.

20 years of SHT – anniversary celebration
2024–2025 – 20 Years of SHT & Strong Partnerships

SHT Suhler Hebezeugtechnik GmbH celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Together with its sister companies Dahs Krananlagen and VETTEN, SHT today forms a powerful group providing complete solutions for hoists, cranes and load handling equipment.
