Automatic Pallet Stacker and Dispenser for Tugger Trains
The automatic pallet stacker and dispenser handles Euro or industrial pallets directly at tugger-train stations. The SHT pallet magazine receives, stacks and returns pallets when required, without manual stacking or an additional pallet truck. The result is a defined, ergonomic process for line-side material supply.
Pallet handling without additional transport steps
The trolley is positioned at the magazine and the system transfers the pallet between the trolley and the guided stack. A separate high-lift pallet truck or manual restacking step is no longer required. This reduces travel, keeps the supply area organised and makes the sequence easier to repeat.
The concept is particularly useful where workplaces are supplied by tugger trains and empty pallets must be collected or provided regularly. A clearly defined interface between trolley and magazine helps keep pallet movements separate from other internal traffic.
Benefits for line-side logistics
- Reduced manual lifting and handling of empty pallets
- Direct transfer to and from the tugger train trolley
- Guided, reproducible stacking instead of loose pallet storage
- Fewer additional vehicle movements in the supply area
- Configurations for Euro and industrial pallets
Operating principle
After the trolley has been positioned, the magazine grips and lifts the pallet. It either adds the pallet to the stack or removes one and places it back on the trolley. The pallet transfer therefore becomes a controlled process step rather than an improvised manual task.
The standard units are designed for trolleys measuring 1210 × 810 mm or 1210 × 1010 mm with a 235 mm entry height. They handle 1200 × 800 × 145 mm EPAL Euro pallets or 1200 × 1000 × 145 mm industrial pallets in accordance with DIN EN 13698-1. Other trolley types and load carriers can be reviewed on request.
Installation and utilities
The pallet magazine is an anchored, electrically powered unit. The standard electrical supply is 230 V. The pneumatic lifting and clamping process requires 6–8 bar compressed air in accordance with ISO 8573-1:2010, at least 300 l/min and a connection for 12 mm outside-calibrated plastic tubing.
For project planning, provide the trolley and pallet dimensions, target throughput, available floor space, approach direction and upstream and downstream process. SHT can then assess the standard configuration or the need for an adapted design.

Frequently asked questions
Which applications benefit most from the pallet magazine?
It is intended for recurring pallet handling in tugger train and line-side supply processes, particularly where manual stacking or additional pallet-truck movements currently create unnecessary handling steps.
Can the magazine be integrated into an existing process?
Yes. Trolley dimensions, pallet type, approach direction, throughput and available space are reviewed first. SHT can then assess how a standard unit or adapted configuration fits the existing material flow.
