A gantry crane can provide lifting coverage without a permanent building runway. Define the maximum load, clear span, lifting height and required travel area. For a mobile crane, floor condition, thresholds, gradients and available manoeuvring space are especially important.
State whether the crane will be used indoors or outdoors, how often it will lift and whether it must be moved while unloaded. Wheel design, locking method, hoist suspension and controls depend on the process. Wind, moisture and temperature may require additional consideration for outdoor installations.
